Hi! I'm Sam, a designer and illustrator from Sydney, Australia. I'm a recent graduate of Billy Blue College of Design, where I studied Multimedia Design (download my CV!). Other than my design qualifications, art and illustration has been a long-time passion of mine! I love to create designs and illustrations that are fun and eyecatching.

Pigeonbox is my online portfolio, in which you will find much of my design, illustration and flash/animation work. Have any questions? Want to contact me for a project? Head on over to my Contact page to get in touch!

Oxley

Oxley

I originally created this character as part of a space pirate webcomic concept, which is currently on hold. Despite that, I like his design a lot and given the character's setting (somewhere in space) I have a lot of freedom to illustrate him doing whatever I want. This picture was an experiment in colour and texture; I attempted to make it somewhat appear to be drawn traditionally, however it was drawn entirely in photoshop.

SqueezyFruit

SqueezyFruit

This was a group project that I was a part of while still studying at Billy Blue College Of Design in 2009. The assignment in brief was to create a product or service. As part of the project we were required to research both the business side of pitching a product as well as the design aspect of this task, much research was done in order to write a complete business plan before starting to visualise our product. We chose to create a line of smoothies targeted towards children in order to take advantage of the illustrative talents of our group. The final product was named Squeezyfruit (due to the chosen packaging format). The work involved tasks such as the research and design of multiple drafts and our final business plan booklet, storyboards to visual our tv advertisement concept, packaging design and rendering of examples (as seen here), logo design and branding as well as pitching our business plan and product.

The other members of my team were Jenni Ta, Esther Duinker and Becky George.

Donut Frenzy

Donut Frenzy

Donut Frenzy was a second year assignment in which we had to create a flash game and pitch it to a chosen client. The game was a group project created by fellow illustrator Picamadew and I. Whilst we did learn some important actionscript coding, the majority of code was provided by our lecturer as the focus of the project was on the concept and branding of the game itself. Along with the flash game, we also created a pitch document in the style of the game's branding.
